Problem Note 31958: Application error might occur in Import Data task after selecting certain encoding using SAS® Enterprise Guide
An application error similar to the following might occur when importing fixed-width text files after selecting certain encoding types using the Import Data task of SAS Enterprise Guide:
System.ArgumentNullException Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: s
System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: s at System.Text.UTF32Encoding.GetByteCount(String s)
This error will most likely occur when selecting one of these encoding types:
- Unicode (UTF-32 Big Endian) (Code Page 12001)
- Unicode (UTF-32) (Code Page 12000)
To circumvent the problem, apply the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB928365) from MS07-40. MS07-40 can be downloaded from Microsoft at the following URL: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS07-040.mspx
To verify that the security update is installed:
- Open the Windows Control Panel.
- Select Add or Remove Programs.
- Select the Show Updates option.
- Search for "Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0".
- Find "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (KB928365)".
